Events:
FNMC
Annual Spring Recital:
This recital is for all students of FNMC that wish to show off their talent to
friends and family. The next recital is... Friday,
April 24, 2009 at Schmitt Music in Overland Park, Kansas beginning at 6:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the
Kansas City Music Teachers Association (KCMTA), FNMC is pleased to offer to
students the following events. Please encourage the musician in your
family to participate. Dates and the theme for the Fall Festival will be
announced in June.
Master Lessons:
This is an opportunity for students to receive a
lesson with a Master Teacher with the student’s own teacher auditing the lesson.
One or two
compositions are required for the lesson. School age and adult students who are
playing intermediate and advanced
level literature are
eligible to enroll.
Fall Festival:
Each year a theme is chosen from the different
musical time periods and students are to perform literature from that particular
period. One memorized piece is performed before an audience and an
adjudicator. Students earn ribbons for outstanding achievement.
Concerto Recital:
This is a special recital for the performance of
concerti with piano accompaniment. Any student may enter. Students
receive a certificate.
Concerto Competition:
One movement of a concerto for piano, voice or
other instrument with the orchestral part scored for piano is the repertoire for
this event. The winner will perform a movement of the concerto with an
orchestra. This competition is for students in high school.
Service Project:
Students will entertain at various retirement
homes throughout the Greater Kansas City area, a tradition that started in the
75th anniversary year, 1990 of the KCMTA.
Music Progressions:
Music Progressions is an annual evaluation
designed to measure a student’s musical progress in all areas of musicianship.
A few
areas are: performance,
history and appreciation, theory, and sight reading. Participants receive their
tests, performance critique and a certificate.
Achievement Auditions:
The Achievement Auditions are private auditions
with an adjudicator. All students receive a written evaluation, certificate,
and rating. Two or three memorized pieces are required as well as corresponding
technical work.
In
addition to the events sponsored by the Kansas City Music Teachers Association
and the annual studio recital, students of FNMC are also eligible to play is
other music festivals.
Mid-America Music Festival:
The MAMA festival consists
of
private auditions with an adjudicator. Students receive trophies for
performances of 95% and above.
